The federal government has announced it will fund a program that will let Canadians read content online from multicultural newspapers across the country.
In a government press release Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Minister James Moore hailed the program as important building block for Canadian culture.
"In this day and age, Canadians are looking to access Canadian cultural content where and when they want,” he says "[The project will] go a long way toward making Canadian culture accessible anywhere in the world.
The program will be managed by Athabasca University’s Connecting Canadians: Canada's Multicultural Newspapers project, and upload content from 20 diverse newspapers that include audio and video streaming for select articles, as well as learning activities that individuals will be able to access on mobile devices.
